A-21: Narsaq’s new Community Centre

Welcome to the new Community Centre of the district of Narsaq – A-21. Opened in June 2005, our community centre is housed in the town’s old electricity works at Fiskervej.
We call it “A-21” in order to signify our intention of implementing the United Nations’ environmental programme AGENDA 21 – adopted at the Earth Summit 1992 in Rio de Janeiro – in our daily work here.

Together with 179 other states, Greenland has endorsed this programme, which focuses on arranging our lives in the 21st century with regard for the environment, i.e. our surroundings and our fellow human beings. Our particular effort in this is both focussed on the local community and meant to be an example to others. Furthermore, by implementing the Greenland Home Rule’s health programme in our work at A-21, we hope to enhance life quality for those fellow people that are in need for this.
